The Last Oasis - is a final year University group project "Advanced Computer Game Design". Its outline was to work and contribute into a simulated game development studio. Working within small development teams on one or more game projects. Its main skill focus being to improve: project management, team working and communication. All throughout designing and developing a game from a pre-assigned group.
Throughout the unit I was a part of the same team. Our projects design was to develop a rogue like dungeon explorer with PvE. The group separated into a design, development and art team. I worked under a lead designer to overcome changes in direction for the game and contribute workflow pipelines to support the fast progressing code base. Collaboration was achieved with Git & Github desktop to ensure correct version control and having a main up to date branch for play testing each week.
Despite lots of hiccups and forever identity changing from room feedback, it was safe to say our project reached a playable end goal for other teams to enjoy and give their honest thoughts. Our game faced many challenging bugs and design changes each week. We had kept a positive outlook on our progress and planned for achievable tasks within our sprints. One of the main techniques I learnt was how to use Git efficiently for making changes and updating codebase. This tied in with practical project management workflows and updating team members daily when a task was complete.
